126: A NORTHERN PERSIA BIDJAR RUG WITH MEDALLION C. 1910

The ivory field with a blue lobed circular floral medallion within four blue spandrels, all with meandering angular and curvilinear vines issuing palmettes, flower heads, leaves and arabesque scrolls is enclosed by a red border enclosing continuous palmettes linked by vines and serrated leaves intersecting finely resolved corners with corner palmettes, pale blue flowering vine guard borders, plain ivory surround.
Measures 66 x 41 inches.
Nice intact original sides and ends, good even overall pile. Scattered occasional moth pits not to the foundation. One 2-inch area of repair at the extreme edge near a corner. No hardened areas or stain.
Provenance: Phil Martin Estate. Phil's interest in Persian and Caucasian weavings began in the 1980's when he met Michael Grogan, who was still with Sotheby's at the time.
