A WEST TURKESTAN TEKKE SCATTER RUG CIRCA 1920

128: A WEST TURKESTAN TEKKE SCATTER RUG CIRCA 1920

The copper red field with two columns of stepped 'Salor' Turkoman guls around a column of hooked stepped square medallions flanked by similar half medallions, within multiple stepped gul borders. The knotting technique suggests this is Tekke rather than its outward appearance of Salor tribal group.
Measures 61 x 38 inches.
Good pile overall, heavy mothing, scattered holes, edge loss, edge gouges, pet hair, no pet stain or odor.
Provenance: Phil Martin Estate. Phil's interest in Persian and Caucasian weavings began in the 1980's when he met Michael Grogan, who was still with Sotheby's at the time.
$500 - $700
