The life-sized carrara marble model of Venus surprised at her bath is after the ancient sculptures excavated from sites throughout Italy and other areas of Europe. This work is signed P. Bazzanti Florence back side of the base.
Measures 34.75 x 19 x 14 inches.
Good condition, noting the loss of four fingers and the effects of exposure to outdoor elements.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
