503: A SET OF 12 OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE CHARGERS WITH CREST

Each plate in the set has an applied, gadrooned border, engraved crest with motto of Dum Varion, the characteristic rolled edge of Old Sheffield Plate, and a seemingly modern back stamp of ENGLAND.
Measures 10 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or wear. There are no areas of wear, other engravings or signs of copper.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
