321: A STERLING CHAFING DISH FOR SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW CO

The large sterling silver chafing dish on matching stand was made by Barbour Silver for Shreve, Crump & Low and is profusely engraved by hand with fine scrolling foliate and floral decoration on nearly all surfaces. Each piece is marked.
Measures 10.5 x 15 x 9 inches, weighs 101.15 ozt.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear. The family name, Bird, is engraved on a number of surfaces as shown.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
