253: A PAIR 19TH CENT CHINESE PORCELAIN BUDDHIST LIONS

Each model of a Buddhist lion with its forepaw resting on either a brocade ball or its young is seated on an integral plinth worked in relief with stylized dragons and the Eight Buddhist Emblems on a scrolled ground, all covered in a rich turquoise glaze. Each of these has had a hole drilled from the top and is fitted with a brass candle cup.
Each measures 14.75 x 6 x 6 inches.
Very good condition, noting the addition of a candle cup in the top of each, minor roughness to some high points. There are no issues actual damage or repair.
Provenance: A private, second generation Kansas City estate collection.
