37: AN EARLY CHARLES P. SHIPLEY HIGH BACK YOUTH SADDLE

The handsome, early example is decorated overall with tooled flower heads and mounted with four plain, undecorated nickel conchos each side, the nickeled brass or bronze horn displays wear, seat and fenders are stamped with early Shipley mark having 21 scallops around the outside resembling Navajo silversmith sunray design motifs. This saddle is Shipley number 268.
Measures 13.5 inches from the base of the horn to the inside edge of the cantle.
Good solid condition, noting wear to the horn and some lost leather strings from the swell, other strings replaced.
