58: WWI US 'PATTON' CAVALRY SWORD, 1918

An original Patton Cavalry sword, ricasso marked 'L.F. & Co.,' flaming bomb, and 1918, black textured grip, basket style guard, the original canvas covered scabbard.

Patton designed the sword while serving as a Lieutenant at the Mounted Service School, Fort Riley, Kansas around 1910. His design differed from typical cavalry sabers in that the blade was straight and designed for ''cut and thrust'' attack.
Measures 42 inches overall.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
