A PAIR 19TH CENT FRENCH EMPIRE BRONZE DORE' CANDELABRA

236: A PAIR 19TH CENT FRENCH EMPIRE BRONZE DORE' CANDELABRA

The fine, high quality pair in soft, elegant dore' finish depict male and female figures in Classical garb holding aloft cornucopias of summer and fall with wheat and grapes; each issuing three candle sockets decorated with fluting, acanthus leaves, and spirals. The figures stand on inverted baluster form plinths with acanthus on three paw feet raised on a stepped base. The quality of the detail, the construction methods, and materials used - like the cut brass nut fasteners under the base - all confirm the period as early 19th century.
Each measures 21 x 8 x 8 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear. Some elements list slightly.
Provenance: A prominent Kansas City family's home at The Walnuts.
