The folio with an original ink sketch by Salvador Dali was published with twelve lithographs by Dali in color on BFK RIVES watermarked paper, three being a double page, tissue dividers, the lithographs illustrate Cervantes' text translated by Michel Deon and with offset photographs after Robert Descharnes, Paul Almasy, Andre Micheau, copyright Joseph Foret, 1957, the original paper folder contained by hardcover boards and spine covered in blue cloth, the whole in matching cloth covered slipcase, edition limited to 197 copies.

The first left-facing page of the folio is signed, inscribed and illustrated with an original drawing in ink by Salvador Dali. The inscription, 'Pour Mourlot' is a dedication to the legendary Paris lithographers L'Atelier Mourlot.

A photograph by Robert Descharnes reproduced in this folio pictures Salvador Dali working a lithography stone in the Mourlot workshop. Unrelated sources state that the original photograph is inscribed, 'Les archives de L'editeur Joseph Foret, C. 1950' verso.

This lot is sold with opinion of authenticity from Bernard Ewell specifying the authenticity of the original sketch and subject to DTS Antiques LLC return policy listed in the auction terms.
Very good condition, noting heavy, almost total, fade to the case and spine of the folio, split seams and tattering of the case, three stains and scattered smudges to the title page, no foxing, odor or issues of any other type, very strong and fine color to each lithograph, no tears, punctures, repairs, serious bumps or creases.
Provenance: Deaccession from a regional institution of higher education to remain anonymous.
