A CHINESE CARVED TURQUOISE SNUFF BOTTLE WITH PHOENIX

496: A CHINESE CARVED TURQUOISE SNUFF BOTTLE WITH PHOENIX

The fine blue example with dark inclusions is from the collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888-1948) of Kansas City, Missouri. It is worth noting that Mrs. Hall's notes confirm she was buying Chinese antiques from dealers in Chicago and New York during the teens and 1920s.
Measures 2.75 x 2 x 1 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of damage or repair beyond evidence of glue on the spoon joining turquoise.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
