459: A 1930s ROOM SIZED NICHOLS CHINESE HAND MADE CARPET

The Celadon green ground of wool and silk on cotton foundation was made by hand, woven with flower and key designs.
Measures 119 x 165 inches.
Good condition, lightly soiled no damage, repair or noticeable odor. Two areas of dark stain as shown.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
