MARY HUNTOON (1896-1970) FEDERAL ART PROJECT ETCHING

98: MARY HUNTOON (1896-1970) FEDERAL ART PROJECT ETCHING

Mary Huntoon (1896-1970)
Approach aka Bridge Approach Topeka (1937)
The sand ground dry point etching with alternate technique in the sky area is from an edition of only 100 prints and signed in pencil by Mary Huntoon lower right with title lower left.

The sky may have been achieved by the sand ground technique that Huntoon sometimes employed which creates an intaglio effect that lends tonal qualities not otherwise present with dry point, the result being akin to to that produced by the aquatint process.

This was a Federal Art Project Print.

We have been commissioned to sell a quantity of this image, both signed and unsigned.
Image measures 6.75 x 8.75, sheet is 10 x 12.75 inches.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet with deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, puncture or repair, unframed, there is brown paper hinge tape upper right and left front as shown.
Provenance: The Alice C. Sabatini Gallery - Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
