380: A 19TH CENTURY SCOTTISH TALL CLOCK WITH CALENDAR

The bonnet with open pediment and brass capped scrolls above an arched door flanked by full columns either side is supported by the mahogany pendulum case with door over outset cabinet base on short, delicate front legs. There are no back legs. The banded and arched door opens to a sheet iron dial painted with allegorical references to colonialism and personifications of Europe, Africa, Asia and India at the four spandrels surrounding the dial with hand painted Arabic numerals encircling two subdials fronted by the original hands except for the upper sub which is missing. The original time and strike brass plate movement was in good working order with the weights completely lowered when this clock was removed from the estate.
