490: A FINE LATE 19TH CENTURY CONTINENTAL ENGRAVED WINE SET


The footed decanter and six glasses, each an unusual form of two flat sides and two bowed rounded sides engraved with intricate designs of swags, scrolls and satyr masks.
Decanter measures 18 x 4.75 x 4.25 and the glasses are 5.75 x 2.75 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
