420: A PAIR EARLY VICTORIAN OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE WINE COOLERS

The circa mid 19th century campagna form pair with ornate scroll handles embellished in hand stippled detail are further engraved with two family crests each, the top rim and side ornaments are decorated by applied decoration of flower blossoms, the base is stamped with the maker's mark for Smith Sissons & Co.
Each measures 11.5 x 11 x 9.5 inches.
Very good condition without wear, damage, dent or repair. The coolers are each monogrammed with the family name Bird.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
