375: A 19TH C. MARBLE AND ORMOLU ANIMATED CLOCK SIGNED MARTI

The lyre-form clock with matching two-arm garniture in scrolling acanthus candelabra of softly finished dore' bronze having three candle cups - one topped by acanthus bud suffer. The lyre form clock topped by crossed torches over cast rose festoons and lyre frame suspends a circular clock case with porcelain dial having hand painted garlands embellishing Arabic numerals, the dial fronts a brass plate time and strike movement signed Marti. The circular frame of rhinestones that surround the case moves side-to-side with the action of the movement.
Clock measures 17.5 x 7.5 x 4.5 and each candelabra is 10.25 x 8 x 4 inches.
Good condition, noting chips at the winding holes of the porcelain enamel dial. The movement is intact, the exact working condition is unknown.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
