Norman Stiles Chamberlain (1887-1961)

Norman Stiles Chamberlain was born in Michigan. He studied art there and in Europe before settling in California in the 1930s where he was employed by the WPA.

This composition of a California desert landscape with mountains is unsigned. It is displayed in fine, original carved and gilded American Impressionist frame circa 1930s. It was found with the similarly-framed signed example in this auction and strongly resembles other confirmed examples of Chamberlain's work.
Board measures 17.5 x 21.25 with a framed size of 24.5 x 28.5 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
