381: A VERY FINE 19TH CENTURY KINGWOOD AND ORMOLU INK STAND

The Louis XVI style gilt bronze and kingwood veneer inkstand fronted by hand painted French porcelain plaques in the style of Sevres and with gilt bronze caryatid figures at each corner support retains all of its original inserts and covers as shown.
Measures 4.5 x 14 x 9.5 inches.
Very good original condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
