The large George III English silver salver has a raised rim of shell and scroll above the plate which is encircled by a hand engraved band of 'C' scrolls, rocaille and florals raised on three scroll feet. The hallmarks for London, 1785 with maker's mark and sovereign head are stamped on the underside,
Measures 1.75 x 17 inches, weighs 54.75 ozt.
Very good condition with good strong engraved detail, there are no issues of dents, repair or heavy wear.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
