PAUL JENKINS (1923-2012) WATERCOLOR ON PAPER

3: PAUL JENKINS (1923-2012) WATERCOLOR ON PAPER

Paul Jenkins (1923-2012)
Phenomena Realm of Blue Saint Paul de Vence (1992)
The large, brilliant composition on paper is signed lower left front in black pigment and titled verso.

Paul Jenkins was born in Kansas City and began his studies at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1937 at the age of 14. Following World War II, he studied at the Art Students League in New York during the fertile artistic period of post-war America where he and many other important artists through their experimentation and expression inadvertently furthered the New York School Abstract Expressionist movement. As this developed, Jenkins came to describe his flowing, jewel-toned, diaphanous compositions as the work of an ''abstract phenomenist.''
The work itself measures 40 inches by 60 inches.

ArtWorks KC has given us a shipping quote of $698 plus insurance at $8.00 per $1,000 declared value.
Very fine condition, clean, bright, the full untrimmed sheet, no damage, stain, fade, bowing, buckling, puncture, indentation or repair; framed and displayed behind plexiglass to archival standards in acid free mounts.
