AFTER MAYNARD DIXON (1875-1946) RARE BOOKPLATE

150: AFTER MAYNARD DIXON (1875-1946) RARE BOOKPLATE

Maynard Dixon (1875-1946)
No-Pah-No-Mah (1923)
The bookplate, presumably color lithography (not offset or mechanical lithography) carries the artist's initials and symbol lower left with the date 1923.

This plate printed in 1923 illustrated the rare 1st edition of Injun Babies: Eight Stories and Eight Drawings for American Children published by G.P. Putnam's Sons New York, in that same year of 1923. The work is described as 'written and illustrated by the great Maynard Dixon (1875-1946), one of the towering artists of the American West' by rare book dealers who ask as much as $1000 for examples in average condition or lower.
Image size 6 x 4.75, frame measures 14.75 x 13 inches.
Apparently the condition is very good, very clean, intact, no visible stain except for a small insect stain upper right corner, no damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
