A SANTEE SIOUX HIDE POUCH BEADED TWO SIDES C. 1900

114: A SANTEE SIOUX HIDE POUCH BEADED TWO SIDES C. 1900

The native tanned hide pouch is decorated in primitive organic motifs of sinew-sewn amber, cobalt, green and pink seed beads on each side of the bag, all enclosed by a blue and white stripe band that traces the fringed outline and straight top edge. Bags of this size and shape have been referred to as medicine bags by some.
Measures 9.5 x 6 inches.
Very good condition, noting minor tiny hanging holes and irregularity in the fragile blue and green string beading as shown. There are no issues of damage, loss or repair.
