A VERY FINE NW CALIFORNIA TWINED HUPA BASKETRY

127: A VERY FINE NW CALIFORNIA TWINED HUPA BASKETRY

The twined weave with imbrication in three colors is of the form that has traditionally served as a hat or headdress for the Athabascan speaking Hupa peoples of Northwest California. In this case, the smaller size and pattern of weave suggest this excellent example was woven for use as a holding basket.
Measures 3 x 4.25 x 4.25 inches.
Very good condition throughout, free from any degree of damage, repair or wear.
