A PLAINS BONE HAIR PIPE TUBE BEAD BANDOLIER

30: A PLAINS BONE HAIR PIPE TUBE BEAD BANDOLIER

The early 20th century bone, hide, glass bead and brass bandolier is adorned with a shell gorget and thongs strung with large blue and yellow glass beads. Each section is divided by thick hide blocks to which each row of hair pipes is anchored.
Measures 27.75 x 3 inches without the fringe.
Very good condition, noting the effects of age and a chipped tube bead.
Provenance: The 40 year collection of Father Tom Wiederholt, Kansas City, Missouri. Tom was a close personal friend of scholar and curator Ralph 'Ted' Coe who advised Tom on most of his acquisitions.
