AN OJIBWE ROACH HEADDRESS WITH UNUSUAL BEADED BAND

21: AN OJIBWE ROACH HEADDRESS WITH UNUSUAL BEADED BAND

Essentially of typical design and construction with natural, braided, jute-like foundation securing the thick horsehair; this example is rare and possibly unique in that the headdress is secured by a four-color loom beaded brow band headstall secured by native tanned hide.
Measures 13.5 inches long.
Very good condition.
Provenance: The 40 year collection of Father Tom Wiederholt, Kansas City, Missouri. Tom was a close personal friend of scholar and curator Ralph 'Ted' Coe who advised Tom on most of his acquisitions.
