The two original works by Byron Wolfe include, from the artist's sketchbook, an 8 x 10 watercolor rendering of an Old West smithy in his shop with horse shoes, hames bell rack, forge, anvil and tools, offering up a forged iron cattle brand for a cowboy's consideration.

This preliminary watercolor is signed and dated lower left with date of 1965 as is the much larger and more finished oil painting of this same composition. The painting signature includes the artist's brand. The mat of the watercolor is inscribed with the painting's title, 'Make Your Mark' and the designation 'From the Sketch Book of Byron Wolfe'
Canvas measures 18 x 24 with a framed size of 24 x 30 and the watercolor sight size is 7.5 x 10 with a framed size of 15.25 x 18.25 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
Provenance: The estate of Tom Watson, Honorary Member of the Cowboy Artists of America.
