226: A HIGHLY CARVED OAK LONG CASE CLOCK WITH FIGURES C 1900

The longcase clock with 8 day moon phase movement in highly carved dark oak case with arched top having carved frieze supported by full-figured musicians either side of the door, the waisted pendulum box flanked by lion masks and cherub faces either side of the door carved in high relief shells, scrolls and gargoyle. The outset base with lion's heads is centered by a panel carved in high relief with figures around a table. The hand painted arched dial with a moon phase date and seconds dial, original hands, 8 day movement striking on the hour and half hour on a gong, original weights, pendulum, winding crank and key. The movement is not marked. The dial bears the hand painted name of Merrick, Walsh and Phelps, a high end St. Louis Jeweler.
Measures 94 x 23.25 x 17.5 inches.
Very good intact running condition at the time of inspection. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises. The cosmetic condition is excellent as well, free from damage, repair or heavy wear.
