Probably Italian School, the oil on gessoed wood panel is lettered/ titled CAROLUS MAG IMP along the extreme top edge.
Measures 22.75 x 17.5 inches.
Relatively poor condition prior to taking the age into consideration, the panel appears to have possibly split into two pieces, heavy insect damage verso, age splits, considerable edge losses, scratches, bits of loss overall; there are no areas of repaint or inpainting.
