The nicely painted portrait of a spirited woman in fashionable garb that includes a blue mob cap is displayed in a bird's eye maple frame of the period.

The mobcap is a round, gathered or pleated cloth bonnet consisting of a cowl to cover the hair, a frilled or ruffled brim, and a ribbon band, worn by married women in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
Canvas measures 16 x 12.5 with a framed size of 18.75 x 15 inches.
