339: CIRCA 1800 DUTCH MAHOGANY AND INLAY GAME TABLE PAIR

The pair of 18th to early 19th century Dutch mahogany and marquetry semi-circular game tables are exceptional for their chessboard, domino and playing card inlays to the interiors, which are most often found with a simple green felt insert. The pair, having profuse floral marquetry to the top, skirt and legs are raised on five square tapering legs, one leg with slide-action to the rear serving as a support for the fold-over tops that open to reveal identical matching inlaid chessboard, playing card and domino motifs.
Each measures 30.25 x 34.25 x 33.5 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, light wear at some edges. and minor shifts from age.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
