278: EARLY 20TH CENTURY BRONZE FIGURE OF A GREYHOUND

(Early 20th century.)
The bronze figure patinated in brownish green is mounted to a black veined marble plinth and signed J.B. Mene.

The signature of J.B. Mene on this casting presents a couple of problems. One, the figure is an exact replica of a sculpture by the French animalier Alfred Dubucand (1828 - 1894). Two, no reliable information on an animalier signing work J. B. Mene can be found, only figures with a similar signature by a very well-known animalier sculptor.
Measures 11.75 x 14.25 x 4.5 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, light wear at some edges and high points.
