A FEDERAL CHERRY CASE MOON PHASE TALL CLOCK

225: A FEDERAL CHERRY CASE MOON PHASE TALL CLOCK

The early 19th century American tall case clock with swan neck split pediment crest capped in carved rosettes between the petite cherry finials over the arched door with original glass flanked by four turned columns on the hood atop the slender pendulum box with a band of crotch grain veneer over the matching veneered door between canted corners above the outset base having a raised chamfered panel, all set on four petite turned legs.

The unsigned brass plate time and strike movement is fronted by a sheet iron dial with terrestrial globes and hand painted moon phase over hand painted floral spandrels bracketing the circular chapter ring of Roman numerals divided by 31 day markers for the sweep calendar hand.
Measures 95 x 10.75 x 20 inches.
Very good intact running condition at the time of removal from the Stewart's home. The movement does not chime, however. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.

The case is in very good condition, apparently all original, original hands, the dial in excellent condition and free from damage, loss or inpainting, original back and bottom board. There is no upper back board.
Provenance: The estate of Bob and Emma Stewart, Warrensburg, Missouri.
