The stipple and line aquatint engraving after the original painting by George Caleb Bingham (1811-1879) was engraved by Gautier.

This composition from Bingham's Election Series of the 1850s documents various strata of American society brought together to participate in the election process. Some take it more seriously than others. The figure behind the speaker taking notes is opposing candidate George Caleb Bingham.
Sight size 21.5 x 29.5, frame measures 35 x 42 inches.
Good condition, noting the presence of visible foxing, the prints margins are obscured by an older mat, this work has not been examined outside that mat or the period walnut frame.
