KENT TOWNSEND (21C.) PAU FERRO AND BRONZE CENTER TABLE

147: KENT TOWNSEND (21C.) PAU FERRO AND BRONZE CENTER TABLE

Kent Townsend (Colorado, 21st Century)
(Circa 2011)
The low center table of complex design is crafted from the exotic hardwood Pau Ferro, also known as Bolivian or Santos Rosewood arranged in precise and highly figured patterns that radiate from the center to the scalloped outer edge. The top, with its single hand dovetailed drawer is supported by a columnar standard raised on three substantial feet of cast bronze with raised patterns of overlapping and interlocking circles.

The drawer pull, the raised designs on the bronze feet, the overall design all display influences that Townsend speaks to in his artist statement: ' My current work is influenced by the Art Deco style; I enjoy its refined form and technical nature.'

The consignor purchased this table at The Annual Sculpture Objects and Functional Art Fair exhibition (SOFA) held, in this case, in Santa Fe, New Mexico for $26,000.
Measures 16 x 42.5 x 42.5 inches.
Very good condition throughout, essentially pristine, like new, no damage, repair or wear to any degree.
Provenance: Jane Sauer Gallery exhibiting at SOFA West Annual Sculpture Objects and Functional Art Fair
