The lithograph published by Associated American Artists in an edition of 250 prints is signed by Thomas Hart Benton in pencil below the image lower right and listed in the artist's catalog raisonne as Fath number 81.

Benton's comments in Fath read: These mule powered mills used to be common all over the Ozarks. Now gas engines hove largely replaced the mules. I found this old time mill in operation in Newton County, Arkansas, in 1969.
Image measures 9.5 x 13.75, sheet is 12.5 x 17.75 with a framed size of 20 x 23 inches.
Very good condition, the complete sheet with four deckle edges, two small stains on the extreme upper edge from a previous mount, not laid down, no damage or repair.
