BIRGER SANDZEN (1871-1954) OIL ON ARTIST'S BOARD

1: BIRGER SANDZEN (1871-1954) OIL ON ARTIST'S BOARD

Birger Sandzén (1871-1954)
Autumn in Smoky (Circa 1935)
The oil on artist's board painted and sculpted with strokes of robustly colored high impasto displaying vibrant fall colors and pleasant lavender hues is signed lower right front.

This painting was purchased directly from the artist in the early to mid 1930s by a Kansas man who owned an oil business there. The work has descended through the seller's estate with an anecdote that the purchase of this painting served to put food on the artist's table during those difficult times. Near the title in pencil verso, there is a price of $60.00.
Board measures 12 x 14 with a framed size of 18.75 x 20.75 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of scratches, losses, lost or chipped impasto, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
